The Happenings of October

On Halloween week I’d like to launch a special Ink Ignite discount of 30% off ALL design services. Although there will be a discount code you’ll have to send us, just so we know you’re listening ;) I’m pleased to announce that there are several spots for adspace available all over the website (footer, header, sidebar, or even a whole post about your product/service). Contact us for full details, prices are unbeatable and space is going fast!

I’ve been considering to bring the Viper OS project back (possibly with a new name). I feel like the Linux community might benefit in someway. Although maintaining an operating system involves a lot of attention and single-handedly that turns into a burden. Also I’m planning two child themes for my two favorite WordPress theme frameworks (Hybrid and Thematic), they may be released before the end of the month. In addition to that, I changed the site font to reflect the upcoming holiday and just to make sure Cufon* works.

Now on to less boring stuff. In the course of planning an operating system release I came across a humorous but practical idea… Creating a “Drunk OS”. Let me explain; when a person gets drunk their abilities to function normally are impeded. So why not create an operating system that has an “I’m Wasted” button on the desktop. Upon clicking said button the fonts would get bigger, the spell-check would get smarter, and the cursor would move slower. Thus aiding the drunken person in their conquest to post photos of them chugging beer on Facebook.

*Cufon font replacement is a system which allows a regular font file to be converted and used to replace existing text areas on a website that would otherwise use boring fonts (like Ariel). This is achieved using Javascript, which is more widely run than Flash. Cufon is used in more and more websites, what we might consider Web 3.0 technology.

Viper 4

Viper 4, what can I say? I’m trying to build it on the testing (squeeze) branch of Debian. But the irony is that it doesn’t come with an installer. So right now it’s just a nice little live-cd that doesn’t install. Want a copy? I’m trying to upload it so people can “beta test” it.
